I had 2 very productive Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) sessions with Lindsey to help me relax and de-stress. We started by talking about my anxieties and a happy/safe place which for me was a beach.
Lindsey then made sure I was in a comfortable position before starting the PMR. I was told to focus on my breathing and body and gradually tense and relax muscles from my toes to my head. Listening to Lindsey’s voice and concentrating on my breathing and an increased body awareness, I felt myself completely relax and was left feeling very peaceful and calm.
My happy/safe place evoked many happy memories which contributed to my general feeling of well being.
After the session we talked about what had worked well for me and what didn’t and the 2nd session built on the 1st with Lindsey adapting it accordingly.
I wouldn’t be able to recreate the sessions on my own but have learnt to focus on my breathing to help calm down in stressful situations.
